Mercedes is a Project Manager on the Muslim Girls Fence programme at Maslaha.

She has also worked as a Fencing Coach on the Muslim Girls Fence project since 2018, and has fenced for nearly 10 years. She has previously worked with the Museum of London, the Horniman Museum, Studio Voltaire and the London Wildlife Trust.

Mercedes is currently an artist in resident at UCL East, and is also the Youth Governance Lead at the Council for British Archaeology.

Mercedes studied Archaeology and Anthropology at UCL, and recently completed a PGcert in Filmmaking at the NFTS. She is also the founder of Black Archaeo, an organisation that seeks to increase the engagement of Black people with Archaeology, heritage and the natural world.
