Diabetes in Westminster
Introduction
Maslaha worked closely with health practitioners, local community organisations, patients in Westminster to produce this resource to help manage and prevent diabetes.
The Need
According to Diabetes UK, type 2 diabetes is up to six times more common in people of South Asian descent, and is a growing problem in the community. The South Asian community is also at risk of Type 2 diabetes from the age of 25, opposed to 40 in the White population.
Muslim patients with diabetes who may fast during Ramadan also need to take extra care with their diet and seek specific medical advice from health practitioners.
